80 pounds of boiled Louisiana mudbugs. Yum.

(that is 40 pounds, the next sack was in the boiling pot. We ate every last one of them!)

You do know, Bill, that God doesn't like ugly...!

It's OK, though. I'll be snacking on a sack of 'em soon.

You can have 'em all! yech!

Nope.

Think "Freshwater Lobster".

Which is really what they are. If you like lobster...

What most people don't appreciate is that a crawfish boil is an event. Not sure if there's any scientific evidence, but I would imagine that you burn more calories just eating boiled crawfish than what they actually contain! It's the perfect diet food!!!

I have an aversion to crustaceans. It's not so much flavor, though I've tried it, and I'm not a big fan (That goes for seafood overall), but just getting past the visual. I'm not one to have my food/meat much resemble what it did while it was alive. and those things are nasty when alive. We used to catch 'em down at the creek all the time when I was a kid. I didn't like them then either. They get pretty big around here. Probably cause not everyone is eating them.

Well, as a transplanted Cajun Scot, take it from me,a Crawfish Boil is an event all right!!!
Though I prefer etouffe myself.

Stuart.

I'll jump in an' go thru about three pounds of th things!!! GIMME!!!

Too infrequent are th' "boil" events down here. I miss it.

Bill- 2 questions:

1. How do we wrangle in invite??

2. Is tante-sue still running the bar?

As you know, you are always invited in South Louisiana, and no, Tante Sue has retired from Fred's Lounge. Sue, of course, is the mother of my next-door neighbor. Fred was the father of Sandy, my neighbor, and ex-husband of Sue. Sue, Sandy's mother, re-married Mr. Earl but continued to work for Fred at Fred's. Mr. Earl later died, as did Fred, but Sue stayed on to work the tourists, with her peppermint Schnapps in her gun holster for show. Sandy inherited Fred's but sold it and Sue just tends to her garden and still volunteers at the local hospital . Make sense?

Thanks Bill. We enjoyed being tourists she worked. I remember you saying she had some sort of serious health issue and got me to wondering. Glad to know Sandy's mother who was married to Earl & Fred is still with us even if they aren't.
