Loud noise, slight pull to the left, a glance over my shoulder and no more tire on the drivers rear. Appears to have blown out the side wall, but I have to check closer since my goal was getting off the highway. Spare was a little light on air, so we drove to a tire company who filled it up. Now I have to buy one tire. Since the spare matches the rest of the car, I think I will transfer over the tire and buy a cheap one for the spare. Very nice Highway Patrol guy stopped behind us and watched for traffic. Pretty quick change over. 10 min and we were back on the road.

I always wondered how the car would behave in a flat tire situation. Know I know at least what happens on a rear tire.

Only about 4 -5 years old. I wonder if the pressure got low, but I do check that about every two months. Of course, not on this trip.

Tires that old are generally considered ready for replacement.

Just went out and checked the tire date. 03 of o8. Older than I thought. My how time passes! I better replace some tires.
