TR6 Hacked carburetor?

Went to rebuild my carbs (74 Tr6) and after ordering screws for the throttle plate, discovered they didn't fit. After some googling, deduced they were from an SU carb, and, indeed, they were. Any idea of what happened?
 
No. The carbs on the car were clearly Stromberg CD 2-SEs and the screws that worked were clearly SU screws (5-40 with split end). Throttle plates were correct, though. Just wondering if this was some sort of common swap.

Sounds like you should be talking to the company you bought them from. If they are not what you ordered and do not fit, they should replace with the correct parts.

There are ZS throttle shafts that require a different screw....one and the most common and probably original is a flat head with a split at the tip of the threads to be spread as lock/..the other which I believe must belong to a replacement shaft because I see it so rarely is a rounded head, no split tip to lock so a thread locker is used.
When I go into the shop later today, I'll get pictures.
 
Here's the picture...the bright ones are aftermarket, non-original...but upon close examination their tips also have the beginning of a locking split...and the threads are of a different size than original...not interchangeable

The aftermarket shaft looks like what I have. The screws are 5-40 with an oval head instead of the flat head. Talked to the folks at The Roadster Factory and the screws off of the SU carb on a Spitfire fit perfectly. Thanks for the info. The shafts fit too nicely to be a mistake.
