H6 SU carb dome and HS6 carb dome?

Are they the same size or is the HS6 slightly bigger?

I'm supposing you already have checked the Moss catalog and seen the parts are different....370-850 H6 and 371-600 HS6.

Now if you want a 59TR that will start in Winnipeg today you should look at converting over to a nice old Bosch CIS fuel injection, or a heated garage ! :wink:

Actually I was wondering if the chrome covers that fit over the SU domes were of different sizes. Saw a set on ebay. No way I'd drive my Tr in the winter here....too much salt on the roads.

Ah... Well couldn't the ebay seller tell you the inside dimensions? Again supposing.... you have H6 examples to then measure and compare. If not, I can at least do that for you. Can't say about the TR4a carbs since I have none of those. But someone else on the forum may if you pose it as a question.

Good idea. I'll ask the seller. My winter car is an 86 Saab 900S with fuel injection....fires right up in our winters. I see your located in Oregon. ...any wrecking yards out that way that still have old britsh cars on them or are those days long gone?

I *think* the difference is that the H6 uses brass-capped dampers (vent in the dome / vacuum chamber) and the HS6 uses plastic-capped dampers(vent in the plastic cap). As long as you match the dampers to the dome, you should be OK.

Pretty sure that's the trick, but I'd await confirmation from Randall or Doc Entropy.....

You know...I was wondering what is the best way to polish the domes? Do you need a buffing wheel or special paste etc?

They make the job easier, but neither is absolutely required. Check YouTube for lots of videos and advice. I picked up an assortment of buffs & compounds at HF for $20 or so (tho that was a few years back).
