This guy sells TR parts and occasional high ticket items like overdrives.

I had an experience that cost me $$$ that you might want to be aware of. Best to handle via PM.

Curious to hear your story. PM will be fine...

Here's mine. It's a very positive experience, so I don't mind posting it for all to see:

I bought a rebuilt TR3 OD gearbox from him. Worked great until I broke a tooth off the layshaft 1st gear. Decided to repair it myself instead of ship it back to the deep south. I had a spare gearbox with the right part in good shape.

He offered to repair it, despite the length of time that had elapsed, and the fact that a broken 1st gear is more likely user error than a warranty issue. As I had the thing apart anyway, I was tweaking the OD performance. We had a couple of phone consultations. He sent me a modified actuator valve, a NOS accumulator spring and some gaskets -- all for FREE. All I had to do was send him the actuator stem I was replacing.

In sum, with me, he's been a straight-up cat who has gone further than he really needed to to make me a happy customer. Sorry to hear that this seems not to be the case with you.

Well I am sure glad you hear you had a good experience. Given how small the TR community it is great to hear when vendors step up, or help owners help take care of one another. Mine experience was not an example of that....

I'm still hopeful that this could be an OK experience, but it's been a week now and despite 4+ emails it's dead-air.

TDSkip,

I just emailed TR man and he called me right back. He has been out of town and said he would contact you today. I have bought stuff and traded parts with him for years with no problems. Give him a chance, I think he will help. I have two of his overdrives, both work great.

Thanks for the note Marv and potentially helping a resolution along.

I'm hoping to report back good news and will be vocal about a fair resolution (assuming we can get there).

Quick update here - thank to Marv's facilitation I heard from the seller tonight and we agreed to work out something that struck both of us as fair.

Hey guys - as promised I wanted to give an update to close this out. Brad and I talked live tonight, and worked everything out. Two important take aways here;

1) Brad is a stand-up guy, and this was all a misunderstanding.

2) I need to get my butt off email and pick up the phone more, since my reliance on email wasn't helping get to a resolution. My bad.

So we're good, in fact I'm going to ship off that A-type O/D to Brad so he can rebuild it.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who feels that way about Brad.
:yesnod:

I'm glad all the issues were resolved, and I'm sure you will be happy with OD.

Over the past few months it has been proven true to me over and over again that email and text messaging are not effective communication tools. Talking face to face or over the phone with someone is so much more effective. We use facial reactions and tones of voice to interact with people. It is so easy to misunderstand, or take the wrong way, something that is written. Email and text messaging are okay to relay a message but as a communication tool, they pale in comparison to talking.

Communication at it's best sucks.
