Guy here's a picture after RCA parked it and we were done with it, it sat idle for a few years. This was the condition it was in when the museum bought it and restored it back to it's original glory. It was shiny when we were finished with it. Then and now. It was replaced with a more modern aircraft and much cheaper to operate. Maintenance was extremely costly. PJ

The 1942 Dolittle Tokyo raiders trained over Lake Murray, SC. The Army Air Corp. lost five B-25's (ditched in the lake)
over the course of the war.

the last one was pulled out in 2005. My sons Boy Scout troop was fortunate enough to be there when they brought it in. Because it was mostly aluminum & in 150ft. Of water, it was in surprisingly good shape.

I've been to lake Murray when living in SC and the B-25 found, but I've never read a write up on it, interesting, thanks for that. PJ
 
One of the guys who volunteered with Jack Kosko's group in Fawn Grove, PA used to work for Bendix and often flew on one of their B-25s. It looked similar to yours, but it was blue and white. I believe the plane is still extant, but not sure which one it is. Jack has since closed the hangar as his health was failing (he was 91 years old when he made the decision), and this guy did not move on to help out at the new restoration barn in Emmitsburg, MD.

Jack himself is now in his final days in a home hospice situation. I got to visit with him a couple of times. It was tough seeing him that way, but very glad I got to spend some time with him before he passes. Besides airplanes, he was a big British car guy, too -- mostly specializing in pre-World War II Daimlers.
 
I have a couple of photos of a restored Blue and White B-25. Their in my other computer, I'll look them up and post them later. PJ

The Bendix bird looked like yours -- identical markings, except in blue rather than red. Like I said, I'm pretty sure it's still around, just can't remember which bird it is.
 
Reason I asked that is it shows no side guns, two 50s on each side. These aircraft were modified so many times for a specific purpose, no telling without old records what was done to them. if this was one saved from the Tokyo raid, it was probably stripped for the run to save weight. Great it was saved! PJ

Couldn't have been from the Tokyo raid.
All 16 planes were lost.
