I have a chance to pick one up for 100 bucks. GOOD? BAD? I'm pretty good at setting SU's/timing etc. But I guess I'm always looking for that magic box. Like the Colortune sitting in the bottom of my toolbox.

Comments? Are they worth it?

Well, I started to write a reply and then decided it was overly negative. Let's just say that I've been wrenching on TRs for over 30 years, and never felt it was worth the money to me.

When I bought my 59 TR3A in 1984, CA did a smog inspection for every car that changed hands within the state. I'd never been through a state smog inspection before, so I tuned it "by ear" to be as clean as possible. Got it so clean that the station actually flunked it, saying it was too clean! Went home, tuned it normally, went back and passed with flying colors.

I'm in agreement with Randall on it. Too much fuss 'n money. Tho I DO have two ColourTune tools. Used 'em a LOT in the shop.

I just got my super duper new timing light. The kind with the LED display in the back with RPM's and advance setting. Hooked it up to my early 1275 Sprite (22BTDC @ 1000 RPM. 23D Mechanical advance.) I was dead on spec. Hard to beat experience and a good ear!

And I did buy the Gas Tuner. Should be here in a few days.
