I was doing some little things on my 94 V12 and noticed a pinhole leak in one of the hoses to the bypass pipe. I thought that it was difficult to replace this hose on my 91, but this is even worse.

Besides the three bid hoses (2 horizonital and 1 vertical) there are four other hoses attached to the pipe. And of course, you can't remove them. They evidently were installed first and other components were installed afterwards hiding clamps. Not to mention other things that had to be removed to get the pipe out. It took me over two hours!!

Now, I get to put it all together again.
 
Put it together, only took two hours, but when pressure testing it, found a pinhole in the expansion tank.

What would life be without surprises?
 
I have seen a stainless steel replacement cross over for V12 Series III E-Types, but have not seen either aluminum or stainless replacements for the crossover with the cap as used on the XJS.

I changed hoses on my car and was surprized at the extent of corrosion in the pipe.

Anyone out there know if there is a good replacement being sold?
 
To make things more interesting, the crossover pipe on the 6.0 is more complex than on the 5.3.

The 5.3 was basically an inverted Y with a small blled hose from the area under the cap.

On the 6.0, there is a small line brazed to the pipe that runs the length of the the pipe, as well as a secondary nipple that attaches to pipe opposte the area it joins the water pump outlet.
 
Would it be a bad thing to just plug the pinhole with something? epoxy, jb weld, a quick hit with a torch and brazing rod?

Most times it's been my experience that trying to braze those pipes or an overflow tank result in finding MORE holes which appear spontaneously as you chase them. Like trying to braze lace. Unipart replacement is the only way I know to "fix" it.

Since I need the car on the road, I cleaned off the spots and used JB Weld. Took it up to temp and it is holding. Don't know for how long, but for now it's OK.
