We are discussing the big "3" and the conseqcuences of financial stupidity.....my electric bill is $ 60.00 My FUEL ADJUSTMENT is $ 120.00. My electric bill is nearly $ 200.00 this has been the consequences since HURRICANE RITA. Do you think we are not subsidising the rebuilding of the power plants the hurricanes demolished! did anyone ask me.......did we vote....????? It has been over 3 years my electric bill has DOUBLED not from use but because we are subsidizing to rebuILDING ENTERGY.........No one proposed this the Public Service Commision APPROVED THE INCREASE........BEWARE government subsides.........

I don't understand your point.

If the company's customers don't pay for rebuilding the power plants, who then should? Insurance? Then the expected costs are reflected in higher premiums and the customers pay for those. Investors? Then their equity investment requires a return; or borrowings require interest and repayment of the money borrowed. The damage has to be paid for by someone and I'm afraid the customers will be the main victims... just as their homes, businesses and other property were damaged.

Exactly what government subsidies are you wanting us to beware of?

Well since I have lived in Maurice Louisiana, the City contracted with Gulf Coast Entergy- Now Entergy But there are 3 other electric company"s which service the same area. Slemco,Entergy and Citi electric. Maurice contracted with gulf states for 30 years. Slemco is in place for all the new housing in our village- but if we purchased our house before 1990 we were attached to entergy automatically. My electric bill is $ 60.00 for what I actually used. We are asesed over $100.00 for fuel adjustment- taxed & my bill is $230.00 for actual usage of $60.00.........The PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION has allowed Entergy to charge me for twice my electric bill & then taxes.............I cannot switch to a another co. because the village signed a contract 10 years before I even lived here. My point is I am Bailing out Entergy every month --they double my bill & I have NO choice or option. This is a assment of over 100% for every individual on their utility roles every month since Rita. YOU THINK GAS IS HIGH..

I can understand your frustration, Randi - and the need to let off a little steam about it. SO as not to get into a debate about it, lets leave it there folks.
