Not without a tin-foil hat!
Any ideas (to scale) how long that runway is? Looks to be on a 34 / 16 heading. Must be several miles.....?

If I'm not mistaken that long runway was for testing the U2 and or the YF-12 and SR-71. I don't believe its in use anymore but it extends out into the dry lakebed. I suppose if you're going to test experimental aircraft, it's the ideal place.

Hey! Watkins Glen is finally hi-res!

The airstrip used to be private, owned by the guy that made his fortune on "Nautilus" equipment.

Is that the guy who collected exotic animals and used the strip for landing his jets that brought animals from Africa?

It was somwhere near Ocala.
