Thought I would check the carbs this morning so pulled the plugs. Front to lovely light brown rear two dry black. Gesh.

Guess the rear carb is a bit rich. Some how I just had an idea that all was not quite well but she will really go to 5500 RPM in a hurry and very happly. Seems like a good strong little engine.

You & Dale....................

is 5500 rpm safe for ur motor?
i dont remember doin over about
4700, and that seemed pretty
wound up ....just wandering.....z

Of course it is safe. Engine is rated at 5300 RPM and I know it will go to 7300 with tweeking, like balanceing and head and HS2 carbs with cam. Shucks it still is pulling as I shift.

ive just drove to many normal
cars to get used to shifting
at 5000+ RPM!..haha
im thinkin weedeater  .....z

In our race car you shift at 10,500. Wheeeee, and sounds great.

Don't forget, Zimmy... if you're talking about your 1500, they aren't nearly as free-revving as the A-series, due to their oversquare configuration.

She will go to redline without problems.

Just for kicks in the racing Bugeye with the heavily built 948 race engine, I would set the rev limiter on the 948 engine at 9100 rpms.

See guys, Hap has spoken.

It's a tough little engine and is quite happy at 5K stock.

well, ill be sure and test it
if i can ever get my clutch
working and some paint on the car!
.........z

Yep, 5 grand is nothing for a A-series motor, rev away Jack, anything under 6 grand for that motor ought to be considered safe.

Of course I agree, when pushing always shift someplace between 5 and 6K, happens preaty quick in any case. But oh does it sound so fine.
