My GT6 and I made it without incident over the weekend from Dallas to Pittsburgh and, after a couple of days of business here, I'll push on to NJ for a week and a half of R&R.

I didn't even need to add oil. Usually, that means the oil is empty but in this case it means that my engine is still in pretty good shape. It is definitely running a little rougher than it was when I left so I will use some of the spares I brought with me to try and clean things up a bit before leaving for the return trip next weekend. Anyone have any suggestions for "must see" roads on the return?

I stayed off the interstates for 95% of the trip. I headed north into Oklahoma (saw a bear on the Talimena Scenic drive) and then over through Hot Springs to Little Rock. A torrential rain had me wondering about my sanity but after it passed, all was well. I headed north from Memphis on US51 along the Big River into Kentucky and ran across US62 all the way to Lexington. From there, US60 into WV, up along the Ohio River on WV2, US33 east to Weston, WV and US19 (miserable road!!) on into Pittsburgh. The Kentucky and West Virginia segments were spectacular. In WV, a guy on a Harley got ticked off because he couldn't stay with me on the curves (the new Dunlops are incredible!!). He caught me when I stopped to stretch and we had a nice chat.

I can't remember having this much fun in such a short period of time. These cars are for driving!!

You can hardly beat the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Natchez Trace Parkway for the sheer joy of driving. Not particularly fast and the Trace is fairly straight, but just a pleasant cruise free of trucks, signs, commercial activity, etc. Lots of history and nature along the way too.

The Trace runs from Nashville to Natchez with just a short break at Jackson, MS. I am partial to the Rockies and the deserts of the Southwest but I have to say that rural Mississippi and the Trace are a drive I always enjoy.

We took the Talimena drive a couple of months ago -- also quite scenic (once the fog lifted) but no bears.
 
Saff, thanks for update. Wondered how your trip turned out. Talimena is terrific, though I've gone over it many times on motorcycles, maybe a trip in the TR6 would be fun. Other suggestion about Natchez Trace is spot on; it is not a challenging drive, but sure is very nice way to spend an afternoon. Let us know how the return trip goes.
 
Glad you had a good trip. On your way back, if you decide to run this part of the Natchez Trace, let me know - I'm always looking for an excuse to get the TR3 out!

In May I drove from Oregon to Maine. I took 60 from Phoenix to Charlston WV, some of the way you went. I enjoyed all of 60 except maybe the panhandle. The high country in Arizona and New Mexico was fantastic, and nobody on it.

Sounds like you are having a great trip.
 
Great story!
I've driven my Spridget on a 7-hour trip (which I figured to be about 1.7 million turns of the crankshaft!)....never had a reason to go farther, but it would be fun to do what you've done.
You're right...they're meant for driving!
