GT6 GT6 Temp Gauge [Again!]

I posted a few days ago about my temp gauge running hot due to a new sending unit I plugged in. Someone noted that there were two sendng units, one for voltage stabilized, one with out and gave me a part number.
Question, I can only find listed one sending unit in any catelog.Since the one in there was bought 2 months ago, I suspect it is the part always listed. Is there some way to tell the non voltage stabilized part? Also, can I require the gauge to bypass the voltage stabilizer? (Direct to power?)
 
I have the original parts service manual for all GT6 cars, tell me the production number of your car and I can look up the correct original part number for you.

The original part number is 137705. All GT6's use the voltage stabilizer. The sender is the same as used on the TR6. I don't know of any visual cues to differentiate between stabilized and non stabilized senders, as I don't have an older one to compare.
As the gauge is designed to operate on an average of 10V, I don't think bypassing the stabilizer would be a good idea. It'd be my guess that you would get a wildly erratic temp gauge.

Joe, Jeff, Thank you guys for your thoughts. I have the parts manual too and checked. I may just order a new one from Spitbits and see what happens. I got the current one at a local parts shop in Seattle. Nice folks and very helpful but sometimes a little random. Maybe not thier fault, BL used the same parts from Jag to Mini. Sigh. My son has suggested that I take my Brookstone remote turkey temp unit and duct tape it in the radiator. Hmmm...
