Spitfire GT6 rear shock to spit mount

I want to relocate my rear shock mount to where spits are mounted, but i'm running into some issues. I have the rear assembly for a spit, but with my GT6 having a TR6 motor i run the risk of that breaking.
I know of a guy that can make me a new rear axle from diesle Mk1 VW rabbit parts.
My brother works at a shop that could make me axles from other materials.
The Rabbit rear assembly isn't cheap, and making the spit rear end out of another material might not work.
Is there any other options?

I'm not sure exactly what you're saying about "rear assembly for a spit"? The GT6 differential is "notorious" for not holding up to extra power (whether or not that's true, I really can't say). Meanwhile, the main reason for the upper shock mount being where it is on a GT6+ is due to clearance issues with the Rotoflex coupling. With that gone, you should be able to use the original chassis upper mount.

As for alternative rear axles, you might look into those from Canley Classics. You might also want to poke around Club Triumph's Spitfire/GT6 Forum, where alternative axle discussions have come up a number of times.

not sure what you have in mind but Joe Curry sells gt6 shock mount brackets:

if you have the money, you get race axles from PRI or Joe Siam at chequered flag...

I got the conversion mounts from Rimmer Bros. in the UK. The main reason I got it from them was that when I tried contacting Joe Curry I never heard anything back.
