Gentlemen,
Anyone out there with an original radio mounting plate for a 1968 GT6 Mk 1? I understand (perhaps) all GT6s through 73 had the same mounting plate, as did the late 60s early 70s spitfires. Im interested in offers.

Regards,
Jeff

Can you give the measurements for the plate? I have one that came with a BL radio but it's to big for the TR6.

Keith - This looks like a radio face plate for a TR6 or other british car, not the radio mounting plate of a GT6 or early spitfire. On the TR6 (as you know) the radio controls (left and right) run through holes in the dash support. This type plate finishes up the face. On the GT6 and spitfires the entire radio slips through a corresponding rectangular cut out in the dash support. Thus, a mounting plate is screwed to the dash support (upper two screws), and it is the mounting plate that holds the radio in place. Hard to describe - check out diagrams at Canley Classics or Victoria British Ltd. to really understand how the radio mounts (I don't do it justice in my description). Anyway, thanks for the offer.

Jeff - Here's a shot of what one looks like (you described it well). These do show up on ebay frequently (of course there are none now).

I got's one that still has the original plastic grained finish on it, not modified or played with.

Doesn't have a radio still stuck in it though :frown:

PM me if you are interested in pictures.

Hey Steve,
Thanks. I've lined up two already through another forum. I'll keep you in mind in the event they're not to my liking. I'm just down the road a bit from you in Media, PA.
I appreciate the offer.

Jeff
