GT6 GT6 MK3 Alternator Problem

So I just got my new alternator for the GT6 MK3, but it's a bit different at the back. Does anyone know if I have to do something to this, or is it just the wrong alternator?

Apparently I've been told that it's the correct alternator, but the three connections in the shape of an L are not there on the new one. I really don't get what I'm supposed to do, because I have a connector to put on from the car. The two main connectors at the top are ok and should fit fine.

I'm not familiar with the application, but I can tell you this much. A regulator will have a connection for the high-current output and smaller terminal for the wire from the ignition light. There is sometimes a third connection for a "Sense" wire. That is connected to the point in the electrical system where you want the voltage to be controlled by the alternator's built-in regulator. There may also be a ground connection, usually to the housing. If you have those, you shouldn't need anything else.

Below is a wiring diagram I found on line. Looks like your alternator is as I suspected. The high-current output goes directly to the battery via the solenoid, and the sense wire goes to that multiple connection of the brown wires.

I have a late '73 GT6 (KF222xx U) with a Lucas alternator that appears to be like your replacement one. I wonder if yours is an earlier 73 car. Triumph made a lot of changes to the GT6 in 1973.
It would be nice to keep the original connections but I think either alternator will work.
Mine does appear to be a replacement alternator but the terminal plug on the harness seems original and fits right on to it.

Try research on "Lucas 5 wire alternator".
