GT6 GT6 intake manifolds

Country flag
Offline
I got a guy talking to me about a GT6 hot rod street/vintage racer, he wants SUs instead of Strombergs, anyone make a intake that accepts the SUs, I did find some adapters for twin HS6sm to be used on the stock intake.

I thought they were the same bolt pattern?
Su 's fit on the 6's without a problem.

The GT6 has a slant that runs the same way for both carbs, I think I built a set for a guy with HIF's and reversed one carbs guts. This only helped with the line up as the Stromburgs are 2 3/4 on center and the SU's are 3 inches. Too get it to line up you need to redrill the SU's a 1/8 inch inside the holes already present and all will line up. Don't know why you don't try to get a set of early 1 1/2's Stromburgs off a GT6 with the adjustment of the bottom, or were you thinking about going 1 3/4 on the GT6???

Oh yea, forgot about that slant. dang.

Come to think of it when I got my SU's from UK they came with a different pair of not gaskets but isolators or something that were for the GT6.

Hap, Paul Tegler addressed this issue on his website when he modified GT6 manifolds to take HS-4s and HS6s on his GT6 MKIII. It's well-documented on his website at:

https://www.teglerizer.com/triumphstuff/gt6hs4/index.html

Give the website a look-see, maybe it will help. He also installed a 5 wire gas sensor at the same time, it really helped to fine-tune the carbs.

Please report back and let us know, this is good stuff for the GT6 crowd!
