The Bentley says to fit the seal holder and seal to the hub, yet the diagram clearly shows them positioned behind the bearings and on the stub axle. when fitted to the hub, they come between the bearings and the hub and prohibit a good tight fit. it's fairly obvious what is correct, but that sounds an awful lot like an assumption............
my pic shows how i have it fitted behind the bearings and on the stub axle, isd this correct?

You have the proper sequence. But I install the bearing into the race and then drive the seal into the hub. I believe there have been a lot of complaints lately about the seal binding as they are too thick. I ended up buying some high dollar seals from Dave Bean. I had a very hard time trying to get the cheap seals driven in without damaging them. The old ones that came out had a nice thick metal flange. The new ones were thin.

SpitBits also has the correct ones.

And, if they don't fit, you'll get an exchange/refund.

Good luck, let us know . . .

The ones from TRF, while a little tight eventually worked at least on the left one. After putting it all together and a few good raps on the vertical link providing a good centered effect and the seal frame was seated.

T'was theirs I had so much trouble with. I actually ordered extra seals because I suspected trouble.

I have found that I have better luck with other vendors, but these were part of an order I placed way back when I first got the car and knowing that replacing the rotors and rebuilding the front end would be the first things I would tackle. They were part of one of their "sales". For the TR parts I prefer BPNW as they are a supporting vendor and then Spitbits.
