I'm getting things ready to replace the pinion seal in my '70 GT6's differential. I get the back end up and get underneath to drain the diff --- no drain plug. Theres a fill plug on the side of the rear casing but not a thing on the bottom of the nose piece casing or the rear casing! Granted, at this point the whole diff is covered in crud and if there's a female threaded plug insted of a male threaded plug I could have over-looked it. (Cleaning is this mornings project.) But I just checked the shop manual before I fired up the 'puter; the pic in it does not show a drain plug. If there's no drain plug I really don't want to flip the chassis on it's side to drain the gear oil. Anybody have a tried & true solution?

Dave, the best solution is to tap and drill a drain hole and fit a common sized plug in it. Easy to do, even if you have to go out and buy a tap & die set.
Gotta ensure that all the swarf comes out of the diff casing, can't leave any in there to muck up your gears.

Be sure to use a seal puller... don't be tempted to use a screwdriver or you could be in danger of scoring the wall. It takes some work to get the seal out.
