Hi all.
I'm a newbie here, just posted a "hello" in the New Members Forum if you want the nitty-gritty on me.
I'm woking on a 70 GT6. I need to get the body off to replace floor pans & misc body metal. I've removed all of the body mounting bolts, electrical connections, and mechanical connections - even the radius arms & rear shocks that weren't mentioned in the factory manual as parts to be removed or disconnected to be able to lift the body.
The Problem: When I try to lift the body the chassis is coming with it. I know the PO applied some undercoat in a few areas. Is it possible that the undercoat and any seam sealants used at the factory are holding the chassis & body that tightly together? Have I missed something? The front mount areas at the firewall have about 1/2 inch of free play when I lift there. Any problems foreseen if I were to shim at this area and try to 'peel' the body up?
Any and all suggestions & help will be appriciated. I'm stuck.
TIA - Dave
