GT6 gt6+ and webers

The po has some webers and offered them to me when I bought the car, I'm now considering making him an offer for them. I recently wrote and asked if he still had them and this was his answer "<span style="color: #FF0000">Yes I still have the Weber carbs. They are 40 DCOE side draft. There are 2 with a "40 DCOE 2" stamp and one with a "40 DCOE 151" stamp. All three carbs are mounted on an intake manifold with a single rail type linkage. I have a few odd jets/emulsifier tubes as well.

The vendor for the setup told me that the intake manifold was for the GT6. I now understand that the manifold is likely designed for the TR6/TR250 since it has straight runners. The manifold mounting flange for the TR6/TR250 and GT6 are identical. However, there is less hood clearance for the front carb under the GT6 hood. The correct intake manifold for the GT6 should have an offset downward to allow for hood clearance."</span>

I am asking for your advice regarding whether to continue the quest and what these carbs are actually worth.

Twin DCOE sidedrafts... I'd offer up $50 for all 3 and see if he bites. Wrong Manifold, and I notice he did not mention the condition or age of them.
 
Worth a try, but 40 DCOEs are worth more than that, each. There is a single bare carb bid to $120 on flea-bay at the moment.
 
as for age they are 10+ years old, but they are unused. I'm concerned that I could end up with a "good deal" on the carbs but no usable manifold.
 
Somethin' tells me it'll be a bit diff'rent than "stock". Manifold issue could be a PITA, tho. Anyone with a good lead on the GT6 version?

Now this is just me, but if I had a triple DCOE setup on a TRactor manifold for sale and was offered $50 for the whole thing, I'd rather dig a hole inna back yard an' bury 'em to keep 'em outta th' hands of th' Great Unwashed... but that's just me.

The different stamped designations are indicative of different applications, IIRC the "2" was used on an Alfa 1600cc. The "151" may be the same progression hole arrangement for a different manufacturer. More research into what's what would be in order, tho the things can be tweaked almost infinitely with jet/tube changes.

If mileage is a factor (which I doubt), then the stock induction would be the path to take.
 
Tom, I haven't done anything really except for sending the head into the engine shop; they cleaned up and milled the head a "bit" just enough to say they did as well as setting it up for unleaded fuel. The engine rebuilder, (personal friend) came over and looked at the engine, valves, and lifters and said leave it alone. Doc, the memory of the PO offering me the Webers was stirred by our private conversation on messing with the rear end, which you wisely advised against. Andrew,I don't plan any major changes (cam, boring, porting etc) in the engine.The consensus here is that the original cams were quite adequate, and I'd like to keep as "stock" as possible and don't consider simply changing carbs or upgrading exhaust (another planned change) as changing the engine.
Webers are common enough, but didn't realize until I spoke with PO that he was talking about triples. I intend to contact him and find out where he bought them and speak with them. He has absolutely no use for them, but he's not gonna let me have them for chump change, I think he would bury them before that. He bought them back in the day when he was gonna rebuild the car, but never got a round tuit.
