MGB-GT GT with a rear spoiler... I kinda like it..

Looks tacked on as an afterthought to me... It's edgyness seems out of place. Aerodynamically, is useless with the wabasto ragtop. And the ad says it has LE stripes. overpriced already. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Looks like it'd be a convenient beer shelf while bench-racin' at tailgate parties... not good fer much else IMO. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/pukeface.gif

Looks like the trunk spoiler on the '77 Trans Am I owned once. ICK!

...or a "short-tail" 911, but a "cheap imitation thereof".

Not somethin' I'd choose for a B-GT. But that's just *my* opinion.

Do I see a clock mounted in the glove box?

I like the wood dash trim, but not much else.

They were available from Moss for years - think Moss UK still has them....I've a friend with one on his RB V8 B roadster.

The spoiler looks silly on the BGT, and Kenny P. is right on regarding its aerodynamic qualities. Plus, did I mention it looks silly?

I'm curious about one thing, though: I would think an automatic would be really, really gutless with a stock 1798 engine?

R.

There used to be another spoiler that went above the hatch, VB used to sell it. It was very small and understated, but any spoiler just looks a little out of place on a B.

hmmm... According to the description it's not a "stock" 1.8L motor under that bonnet. Bored out to 2.0L, HS6 carbs, mild street cam, MGC Automatic tranmission, and MGC rear end. I reckon it'd make for a great GT cruiser.

not a very big fan of auto-tannies myself, though.

I'd like to see pics of one on a roadster.

I know that I will be sorry that I did this, but when my car was painted I had 2 trunk lids done. One was standard and the other had the holes cut to mount the spoiler that I got for nothing through e-bay.
I have not bolted the spoiler one on in a couple of years, as I much perfer the stock one.

here are some old pictures of my 78 B with the spoiler mounted, I am now putting on my flame suit /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

BTW, anyone want to buy a nicely painted Green Mallard trunk lid w/ spoiler or a painted rubber rear bumper in great shape?

fire away,
Paul

Geez, Paul. You had the good taste to have an unsullied boot-lid for yours. No flames from me...

But the "spoilers" kinda seem 'juvenile' to me. Same as the stick-on "Graduate" ones on Alfa Spiders. And blocking forward vision with big fuzzy dice or other hanging "kultch".

I've often wondered if they were so good why the factory teams didn't use them?

Nice car - with & without painted bumpers!

Looks good and I bet even better without spoiler.
