To weld or not to weld...When is it ok to patch floors and when, what does it look like, does one replace? Are floors as essential structurally on a GT as on a roadster? Has anyone made frame rail connectors instead of replacing rockers ?

The floors on the GT are still structural as on the roadster, although they are not as critical, the roof giving a degree of rigidity. If the rockers are rusty, then replace them, they are not expensive, and if you can weld then the time involved is not such an issue. It would cost you more in the long run to try fabricating chassis rails. Sorry to bear bad news, but it's just not worth cutting corners.

Caspico e grazie tanta. I assumed as much but always hope I am wrong when it comes to costly work. In the long run, it cost more because it saves more, so said the plumber.
