grrrrrrr...what makes some people so difficult?

I am so upset! We just listed about 15 or 16 items on e-bay to clean out some of the left over parts in our garage. We do this every 3 or 4 months just to keep available parts out there and keep our car hobby financially "easy" Like a garage sale. We never get or expect much...$10-$15 per part plus shipping. Our last bunch went off on Thursday- Sept. 24.by Friday night everyone had paid. We packaged it all up on Saturday and then at the post office by Tuesday AM. Normally we send out 2 day with proof of delivery, but this time (like idiots) we just sent most of it Parcel post because postal rates have really gone up. We still ended up losing about $3 overall on the shipping..no great loss.
On Wednesday, some guy files a claim with e-bay that he had not received his item. We contact him and tell him the date of shipping and the package ID. He refuses to remove his complaint, so yesterday, we just refunded him his money in full. What does he do? He leaves us NEGATIVE feedback!!!! What a jerk!! We cannot respond, cannot reply, nothing. Just says he paid and we never shipped it out! After 5 years and over 500 items sold some A**$()#@ has finally ruined our 100%. Now he's got the part and his money and then leaves negative feedback?
Why won't E-bay let you cancel a transaction when you have to refund money for parts that the buyer claims were never received? Or at least respond and say that you attempted to resolve the problem and he was still not happy?
PSHAW I think we are done with e-bay!

The reason I've been done with it for years - unless I'm on the buying end.

You can do that. There's a way to contest the situation (I can't remember what it's called).

I had a problem that seemed fishy. I was selling a piece of equipment that a guy put the winning bid in a couple hours before the end of the auction. A few days went by and I heard nothing, so I sent him an email and reminded him of the final price. A few more days went by and I emailed again - after a couple of days I got an email from someone claiming to be this guy's son, explaining that his "dad" had been sick for a long time and was in the hospital but he'd be glad to send me a check (I would only accept paypal).

Anyway - I tried to just cancel the transaction so neither he or I would have it count against us (giving him the benefit of the doubt). The only way I could do it was to write to ebay and explain the situation. It really wasn't a big deal to fix.

You would be doing us a favor if you listed the idiots ebay name so we can all add him to our "blocked list" of buyers.

It's a crying shame! E-bay has just become another big business. Their fees are OUTRAGEOUS and lately we have more and more people who seem to just be on there to stir up trouble. Scam sellers, Scam buyers, it's too bad because to be honest for those of us who live in less than metropolitan areas, it has made this hobby possible. We always thought selling our extras was kind of like passing it on.
Are there any other "swap sites" out there that would allow us to keep good used parts in circulation. We know about Craig's list, but it seems more for big stuff and not beauty rings or wiper motors.

You could always list your stuff for free here in our classifieds (and make a donation of you want if you sell something)

Re: grrrrrrr...what makes some people so difficult

I actually had not thought of that! That would be a great thing for the British parts. Do you think members would want us to list "other parts" too? (Toyota, Nissan mainly)

Re: grrrrrrr...what makes some people so difficult

I got a couple of Porsche fan shrouds. Think I'll get much of a bite?

Re: grrrrrrr...what makes some people so difficult

Don! List 'em as 911 radiators, Don. You'll get PLENTY of bites.

As to th' subject of this post, reference: "Humans..." post. Self-destructive.

Re: grrrrrrr...what makes some people so difficult

Actually the part # says 996 on it

Re: grrrrrrr...what makes some people so difficult

BAH! So much for a good ruse.

...whoever thought of usin' WATER in a Porsche 911 engine design needs to be waterboarded IMO. :jester:

Re: grrrrrrr...what makes some people so difficult

I would recommend that any one selling on Ebay go to the Ebay "community" section on the rt hand upper of the page , and access the discussion boards. Read the "Paypal " page, and "seller central" page. There is a lot of scamming going on on Ebay, and filing the "Item not Recieved", or "Significantly Not As Described" claims with Ebay. Ebay will "investigate" and then promptly refund the miscreants money, and we get stuffed. You MUST insure EVERYTHING for YOUR protection, not the buyers. This is a big problem on Ebay, so much so that some shining star has written a book telling people how to do it. I still sell on Ebay, but not as much as I used to. The climate of crime, with Ebay and Paypal facititating it has driven a lot of people from the site. So, fewer people means fewer sales. Too bad, it is a really odd business growth plan. Besides, we, the sellers, PAY ALL THE FEES. Who exactly does the management team on Ebay/Paypig think their customers actually are anyway??

Re: grrrrrrr...what makes some people so difficult

Well, after some searching I found a place that allowed me to complain to E-bay about a buyer leaving negative feedback when we had done everything in our power and good faith to make the transaction smooth. Our description specifically stated that the item would go out USPS Parcel Post 2-6 day delivery, and he filed his complaint on the 3rd business day. We responded to all of his messages and when the item still supposedly had not arrived after six days, we refunded him his piddling $15. What more could we do? Nothing. The possibility exists that of the 16 packages we posted one of them never arrived. Our fault for not requiring proof of delivery (I mean come on..it was $15 and $6 of that was already shipping fees) Anyway, I pointed out that we would probably not be selling any more items on e-bay since their policy is obviously biased towards the buyer. He got his money back AND still was able to leave a nasty comment about how we were uncooperative and never sent him his part.
E-bay responded that after further review, the negative feedback would be removed. We will see. It's still there this evening. Regardless, we are done. It's not worth wading through all this to make $100 after postage, e-bay fees, and paypal fees are all deducted.
