Grounding of Horn Push-Bugeye

Can anyone tell me how and where the ground is established for the horn push? And any trick to help?
I suspect that when I was painting where the steering shaft connect to the steering rack could be the place. I have the shaft out and can strip the paint in that area where they connect. Am I on the right track?

Thank you

It's usually not the steering shaft that's not grounded, but the rack itself. You need direct metal to natal contact between the rack and the frame. The other option would be to use a 10 gauge wire between one of the rack bolt's to the frame. The other issue is making sure there is continuity between the rack and the rack mounts. Using paper gaskets or other insulating material between the rack itself and the mounts will also isolate it from ground.

My 65 had a small steel cable connected to the steering shaft and ground from the factory. Enough length so that it could wind around the shaft as one turned. Connected to the steering knuckle at the rack.

Here's a picture of how it was done on a friend's Bugeye and how i plan to do it on my Bugeye.
Putting a wire on the (rotating) steering shaft doesn't sound like a permanent way to do it.IMG_8912.JPG
