Groovy CL Find

Once I sort through the mechanicals (putting in new master cylinder today) I intend to buy a hand full of leather dye colors and spend a bit of time touching up the flowers! Groovy was originally cherry red, and the black carpet looks like it was an original kit sold by the dealer too. The floors are rock solid and even though dirt / sand have collected in the frame cavity behind front wheels I have not spotted any signs of rust what so ever. The photos I have taken are of the original routing of fuel lines, vacuum lines and ground wires, all original and usually have been messed with by now. I am replacing the original radiator hose but am keeping it as a reference to what they were like from factory.

I am chagrinned to discover that I have competition in combing the Bozeman CL site! I had just emailed that same link to a car-buddy a few days ago with the comment, "If only Bozeman were closer!"

And you know, my last Sprite (before the currently owned one) was that color and also had a Speedwell bonnet! (Although no central ridge in the bonnet.) What are the odds!

Leather dye is dye, vinyl "dye" is paint. I don't believe you can use leather dye on vinyl with good results. That being said, see if you can get the stuff for vinyl and I'd see about a local artist doing the work. Might talk to someone who prints up banners and billboards and see if you can have it duplicated with materials that will stand the test of time.

Hard to tell from the pictures how far gone the upholstery is or whether a good clean with a quality vinyl restorer/protectant might make it serviceable. I've heard of people having good luck finding old vinyl patterns. Here a source that advertise:
