Fried soup came out good so now I'm trying my hand at grilling it. So far so good.

Now, Gumbo, das not soup!

Soup is what you do with food before you throw it away....

Yes and no. I use me clippin' fer stock. I have one cooking pot going and one stock pot. I put me clippin's in the stock pot and boil as I work. I'll drain it off and add water three or four times as needed. When I'm done w/ it, there is no flavor left in the "throw away food".

Here's what I'm doing. Cut chuck into fist size pieces. Drizzle w/ a little olive oil, sprinkle w/ Tony's. Grill meat till nice and brown. Take meat off and put "heavy" veggies on grill. (Carrots, califlower, maybe some onions or potatos.) Cover pit and go inside to cook. (only use one layer of coals on a 14" grill.)

Put a few tablespoons of olive oil in bottom of pot, add 5 pressed garlic cloves. Heat till it starts to brown, add onions, celery and meat. Kick it around till onions start to clear or carmelize. ( you choice) Take meat back out, dump pot veggies in another bolw. Put meat back in pot, add PLAIN water and boil ~1-2 hrs. ( I feel the higher you boil stock, the more flavor gets killed.) Add all veggies back in when meat starts to soften some. (hope you didn't leave heavy veggies on the pit.)

Reduce heat and simmer till done.

WE both like celery and cilantro so it's LOADED down with that. (on sale)

I am my own worse critic and man, it it tasting good! I wasn't too thrilled w/ the last batch I made. (unfried)

Ya lost Bill with the cilantro. He equates that with soap!

Me, I t'ink you got something there, Billy. You've given me some "food" for thought!

Was in the Winn Dixie the other day looking for some fresh parsley. Right next to the parsley was some fresh cilantro. I thought, "How silly of me to think I dislike cilantro. Everyone else loves it." I took a sprig and tossed it into my mouth....WRETCH....I seriously liked to vomit right there. Horrible stuff. Reminds me of my mother washing my mouth out with soap. No kidding.

I like your "soup" idea there, Billy. Sounds like a Mulligan Stew, if you will.

Gotta give it a whirl.

Yeah, if you eat it straight. Try that with parsley and you'll get the same results. I'll make you some home made salsa next spring.

Funny thing is, last girlfriend HATED LDU and cilantro....Kelly loves them both.

I like your 'fried' soup. Only difference is I don't grill so would probably bake or broil. Nice way to do up leftovers.

I've got leftover lasagna and taco fixings in fridge now but I guess that wouldn't make for a fried soup. Will have to wait.

Doing leftovers tomorrow and corned beef and cabbage for Tuesday.

Crap, I'm hungry and it's only 4:00 PM.

Your fault guy!

Have been chained to the Boob tube watching drive ins,Diners and Dives.
That show makes me hungry.
Like the way they let food cook and smoke for long periods.

Seriously though, it adds a whole 'nuther layer of flavor to it. Y'all just wait till I cook bacon on the hood of a truck again! ( gotta find the right truck.)
