Hello old friends -

We've moved from New York to Utah's Salt Lake valley, I won't discuss the reasons because the topic would make any moderator cringe!

I had Reliable Auto Transport, (the big orange trucks), move the Healey and only had one major problem with the exhaust...when the car was delivered the front mufflers were knocked away from the pipes. It was very loud, but the delivery driver disavowed any knowledge of any damage!! To his credit, he picked the car up from an intermediate warehouse in the mid-west. It was just irritating the company didn't even acknowledge anything was wrong when something happened somewhere and it must have been obvious when it did happen. At any rate, Reliable asked that I get an estimate for repairs and they would decide if it was worth discussing. Honestly, I had expected better from this company, especially after paying a premium for the enclosed transport. I had the repair done already. $50 plus $195, we'll see how they respond.

The weather here has been very mild and it's been nice driving the car in March, when I wouldn't start driving in NY until late April or early May.

This is why I insist that the shipper guarantee that the driver and truck that pick the car up be the same driver and truck that unload at my house. I thought all the major shippers worked that way.

Hi Dave,
Welcome to Utah! I'm just up the road a ways in Logan. There are a number of Big Healey and Sprite owners in the area, and there is a fairly active local club that I hope you will consider joining. (https://www.bonnevillehealeyclub.org/)

P.S. Don't get your hopes up based on our spring weather this year. It's been unusually mild!

I've used them, Horseless Carriage, and a couple of others in the past. Just like insurance I guess you never know until you have a problem. The last guy I used looked the car I was transporting over so much it started to make me mad. He was marking things that were smudges. Anyway they should have done a pre-ship review and had you sign it. In which case that would have been noted if you were responsible. They should pay.

we'll see what they do with the bill - any reputable firm would take care of it...

Thanks. The weather has been awesome - I went for a short ride today after cleaning the car, what a great chance to shake out some of the cobwebs and so early in the year. I'll check out the club website tonight and see you soon at a get together!
