Basil's current signature line reminds me of a favorite quote:

"We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid."
Ben Franklin

"Against stupidity the Gods labor in vain." - Friedrich Schiller

Gotta love Bill Murry, one of the great philosophers of our time :cool-new:

I like to say: "You can't reason with unreasonable people"

"On the other hand, you have different fingers" -- Stephen Wright.

The one that I use from work, after dealing with over 40 years
of dealing with the Public.

'Some people are stupid - but they HAVE to prove it to you"

My wife used to say. " don't just look stupid, open your mouth and prove it. "

Basil's quote always reminds me of "The difference between knowledge and wisdom. Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing not to use it in a fruit salad."

Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens) said, "Don't argue with a fool, they bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience"

and George Bernard Shaw's version: โ€œNever wrestle with pigs. You both get dirty and the pig likes it.โ€

My favorite from that movie: "Run Forrest, run!"

one of the few movies I appreciated as much as the book.
Mostly due to Tom Hanks performance.

But any work done by Winston Groom deserves a read.
he is a great writer, but doesn't get a lot of press.
