I pulled this off the TR4a IRS yesterday, it sat for 20+ years. For grins I moved the lever and sure enough, it still works. How cool is that? And yes, I'll rebuild it before it goes on the car, but still!

I suppose in fairness, the credit for the quality belongs to AC... but I am always amazed at the number of things that do not go wrong on a 50-year-old car that stills carries so many of its original parts.

didn't the original have the priming lever?

Not to mention a deeper sediment bowl, and a solid foot (not laminated) ?

I recently replaced an original brake light switch with one from that company in Oxnard.

The original lasted over 50 years, the replacement - about a month.

That's why they invented parts cars, and basements and barns full of the remains of same! In 2002, I'd just bought my '62 Herald and was about to leave NY for Minnesota when I discovered the likely original hydraulic brake light switch had one connector broken off. I went to one of my parts Heralds and grabbed its original switch...which has functioned perfectly ever since!
