Most know of my opinion on bad parts and poor service.

Well, I had an excellent encounter with a parts vendor last evening and feel compelled to share the good news also.

As this forum knows, I have been trying to finish my car for far longer than I wanted it to be apart. More things than I am going to mention, most non-car related, got in the way of working on it. The engine was going to be finished yesterday, I had my brother coming today and my son tomorrow to help put the car back together. And was finally planning a drive on Sunday after some test drives on Saturday.

Last evening I got a call from the shop. One pair of the rod bearings were Std instead of .010. It was a sealed package so it had to have happened at the factory.

Trying to think of what to do I realized that British Parts NW, being in Oregon, might still have someone there. I called and a person answered and I am ashamed to say I do not remember the name. I was not angry, just frantically trying to get at least a bearing pair for a single rod as soon as I possibly could. The person on the phone grasped the situation and told me not to worry but to just keep working on my engine and the bearings would be sent asap and made sure I understood there would be no charge. There was no hassle, no excuses, just a "we will take care of you" attitude.

Do I like having another delay, NO! But I do like a company that steps up and takes care of a customer.

That phone call made a very loyal British Parts NW customer.

Yes, a company that that takes care of things when a problem occurs, even when, and especially if it's not their fault is one that you should continue to do business with. Fortunately, most of the parts vendors that I have dealt with are good at following this philosophy.

I have to say, that I've had similar experiences with both TRF and Moss. I've never dealt with BPNW, but I'm glad to hear that they care as well.

When the right parts arrive and are installed, please take the time to write (and send) a snail mail letter of thanks to your vendor.
These really do have greater impact

I had a similar (positive) experience with the exact same vendor last week. I placed a large order for Spitfire brake parts, pretty much everything they sell. I noticed I'd ordered two sets of something, but only needed one as a pair comprised a set. I called back and it was immediately fixed.

I spoke with someone named Leighton. Outstanding vendor/customer service. Been using them for years; the have great prices on Lucas/Girling parts.

Absolutely! The only time a vendor hears from a customer is when he or she is fuming. We need them just as much as they need us - maybe more sometimes!

Hi There ScottH;

I never heard of these Folks?

So; I pulled up their website; Interesting to say the least: Signed up for their Promos & asked if they offer a catalog; but I doubt it:

So; This is just a "Thanx" for posting their where-abouts and Their "Service Record"!

See Ya All Later; Russ /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/savewave.gif
