Greasing Splined Hubs for Wire Wheels...........

Hello, My '66 Midget has the wire wheels with knock off hubs. A friend of mine who is an LBC enthusiast said that every 6 months or so I should remove the wheels and put a thin layer or grease on the splined axle/hub where the wheel mounts to prevent it from seizing. Does anyone have any further details on this, or what type of grease to use etc?

How about slipery stuff. Gesh, what ever you got should work fine like greese from your gun.
 
Never seize might not be a bad idea and it's the same color as the wheel.
 
Never seize I would think is not good as it has small particals of glass in it for the anti seize part. Might cause wear.
 
Never Seize-the only way to go.
I learned this from a mining engineer who told me it is the only approved way to grease splined hubs in the mines as it will stand up to the pressure loads and shock,
Be sparing in application or you will have spatter all over the wheels.
To clean my wheels on the car I will soak the spokes and hubs with either WD 40 or PB blaster and use a parts brush to work it it then shoot them with foamy engine degreaser and then hiose off. Does a great job without removing the wheels.
