Greasing new upper ball joint?

After many months of of cleaning and acquiring parts I finally got around to assembling the drivers side front end, but the new ball joint will not accept grease. When I add it it comes back out the second hole. I tried greasing it with the suspension hanging, with the suspension compressed and with my finger over the second hole to no avail. What's up with that second hole anyway? I'm think I need to plug it with a screw or liquid metal.

Any and all thought appreciated.

Never seen one with a second hole before. I would talk to the supplier. Since it is installed, I doubt you want to replace it at this point.
JB Weld might be good.

Have you installed rubber gaiters over you inner tie rods?

Doug- I have installed new rubber gaiter and slimed everything with
axle grease before I finished them off.

I think someone mentioned this is incorrect and the gaiters get
filled with some type of oil. Can you elaborate how, what and where?

thanks.

Doug, I will call the supplier tomorrow. Some how I think I will end up plugging the hole and JB Weld is a good suggestion.

I put a new gaiter on after I took the picture so everything is now sealed up.

Tinster - I put a thin coat of grease on everything before sliding the gaiter over the top. As far as I know, that's all there is to it.

Are you sure it's not 'full' and the excess is escaping the said hole?
I've never seen a 'breather' hole either but my 3 has a diff unit altogether.
I doubt JB weld will hold under the load of that kind of pressure.
Put a small screw in place and fill, remoce the screw and if grease exits under pressure it's full up.

That should be good Dale. AFAIK the gaiter is there to keep dirt and water away from the inner joint and from getting into the steering rack. I can't see how they would hold oil.
