GPS Speedometer and West Valley Instruments

On a somewhat more serious note: regarding the needles, lettering and markings on these gauges -- is it black or dark grey or ??? Hard to tell from the photo.

They do look really good!

Andy....... the small ones are brand new Smith gauges from a company in the UK that Morris buys from and the lettering looks black to me. The large ones are my old black Smith gauges that were repainted by an "artist" that does all the paint work for Morris...... and they look black too.

However........if you sent Morris your gauges to be repainted, he'd do any color you want!

Now we just need Brosky to do this on his Wedge, so I can see how that turns out!

Bob, thanks! Your photos make these gauges look much less "yellowish" (main background color) than they do online at the various sites of those who sell them.

I ask because early Heralds had basically white-face gauges with medium- to dark-grey needles and markings. If I ever get one of my early Heralds on the road, I'd likely want to add at least an oil pressure gauge and would like it to match!

I hate to ask the obvious, but with GPS if some steals yourcar, it could be easier to find, right?

Probably not. Having a GPS receiver and using it to calculate speed is not the same as having the type of functionality built into a cell phone.

There's no registration process like there is with a golf GPS or a Garmin/Magellon GPS so there's no record of your unit to trace back to. ...... which always made me wonder why portable GPS units are such hot theft items.......seems like the unit would be easy to find if you had registered it.

One last note on accuracy........ I went to a show two weeks ago that's about an hour away with a mix of back roads and interstate driving. I had my Garmin GPS mounted to the windshield which also shows MPH.......... the GPS Speedo and the Garmin were a perfect match. On the way back home I went through one of those radar roadside "signs" that tell you how fast you're going........ I was going 60, 15 over the limit so it was flashing 60 like crazy........ speedo and Garmin both agreed that I was doing 60! If you go through a tunnel....... drive by your Tach and stay with the traffic flow!

I settled on the ash tray as the antennae holder. I cut the bottom off of the tray and glued a piece of leather as the new bottom. THen under that I made a little leather sling that I glued to the sides of the tray........ the antennae sits in the sling and my TR6 bear sits in the tray.
