As many of you know, we lived in the USA from 2002 to 2006. In a post 9/11 world, not surprisingly the green card process slowed to a crawl. So much so that, while we started our process amost immediately upon arrival, we actually got our green cards in April of 2006 and moved back to Canada in May 2006. We surrendered the cards in late 2006/ early 2007. For about two years as per instructions we carried our documentation whenever we crossed the border, but until now, through 2 Canadian passports, every time we cross the border and get our Passports scanned (Canadian passports mind) we get asked about our green cards.

yesterday we went to Buffalo for a little retail therapy and supper, and, as usual, the border guard asked about our green cards, we explained we had surrendered them in 2006, he went back into booth and came out chuckling. Actually says he, it was 2007 and know because it has taken until now (last month) to consolidate that with our records - 5 years! He thought it hysterical and opined that they must have sent the records by foot to Nebraska.

We were amused!
