Gotta Be a new record

I suppose if we wanted to get this thread back on topic, we could lock it.

I've heard of those Kevlar lined pants and I should take a closer look at them. I want something that I can wear at work. Since a normal day is around 12 hours, I don't want anything to bulky or hot. My bike doesn't lend itself to storage, so bringing a change of clothes is a drag.

Greg, here's the link to Motoport USA, maker of the mesh kevlar armor suits. I have the mesh kevlar pants and jacket with "tri-armor". I've also included a link to Halvorssen's, a top of the line manufacturer of motorcycle safety gear. This stuff is a bit over the top for the purpose you stated, and probably isn't intended for industrial use, but maybe this will get you pointed in the right direction.

Wearing this stuff in a high-speed getoff can mean the diff between going to the ER and simply walking away from the crash. Very comfortable, and thermal liners (waterproof) are available that are extremely warm. I ride in temps down to the mid-twenties and stay warm (for short distances, anyway). In summer the mesh kevlar flows air very nicely.

Sure, it's not as comfy as wearing jeans and a tee shirt like the Harley guys, but you'll save TONS of money if you crash by avoiding skin grafts! :yesnod:

I don't ride beyond my front yard without wearing my Motoport Air Mesh Kevlar suit. Pricey, but among the best armor gear on the market. The price may seem high, but it costs a lot less than surgery and skin grafts!:

Here's the Halvorssen's link: https://www.jofama.se/motorcycle_wear/products.php?lang=2&cid=5

Thanks for the links Mark. I just need to get myself over to a store and try stuff on to find something that fits me. I had a devil of a time with my boots, most were too narrow for my webbed feet. Pants and a spine protector for my jacket are the only things I'm really missing. I am going to check these pants out, there is a Cycle Gear not too far from me.

I had the "Joe Rocket" mesh jacket. Pretty much useless, unless you're trying to fry moles of your back in the summer. The styrofoam padding was HOT !!! I pulled it out but the jacket didn't handle abrasion well. After my last crash (which should have crippled me at a min) I decided someone was trying to tell me something.

My next motorcycle was a '79 Midget.

Road rash problem solved !!!!!

Nothing has th frre open feel of a M/C ('cept maybe a Spridget w/o a windshield)
but a spridget is close enough.

I really enjoyed riding, but old enogh to know better (and have PTCTS to prove it !!!)

Boy,talk about a thread on a ramble.

We should do this (whatever it is) more often.

I'm with you Basil. This is how normal conversations are anyway......especially in a pub, but usually louder and slurred a bit.

Well, since we're going everywhere with this thread: Can anybody take a photo of how the AC hoses are routed from the compressor to the condenser & dryer on a '77 Corvette?

Sorry, that's off topic. This is a pub, not a bar. :jester:

(notice pint glass :thirsty:)

Hey, who let the Chevy guy in???? :jester:

being in north Alabama, there has to be one on blocks in front of a trailer close by, right? :jester: :jester: :jester:

There was here...till scrap hit $11 per 100#'s and the rednecks crushed EVERYTHING !!!

I knew a guy who had a '76, but we don't talk anymore. (Kelly's 1st hubby)
I searched but couldn't find anything.

any one wanna lose a game of darts?

m

sure...I always do !!!!

First person to stick one in the Chevy guy wins.

1st prise is a 1977 Corvette.

...so, a man walks into the pub with a 6 inch leprechaun on his shoulder and sits down at the bar. The bar keep walks down to them, looks at them and says "we don't serve his kind here...

Darts and Guinness @ the barn sounds ok to me...I'll buy!

Guess you haven't checked to see who the "Chevy guy" is, have you? All you have to do is click on the banner in my signature block!

 Don't even need to click it Tony. The banner says it all my friend. Well, 'cept for the Corvette. Oh, is the GT race car listed there?

and I'll guess we'll excuse the 380SL too......long as you don't need pics for it.... :jester:

Funny thing is, my wife has always wanted one of those, but I got her the Midget instead and LOVES it. She's never looked back.

My buddy had one and I hated working on it.

Tony. I like all and enjoyed seeing your Ghia. I had one when first dating my wife. Traded it for a bus, (VW).
