Got the trailer today

Got it home, but my knees and my back are bothering me something aweful. I been overdoing it. Not gonna touch it today. Maybe some work and pics of it tomorrow. Did some basic checks. Trailer is home made but well made with good welds, was made for hauling formula fords that come in near 2000 lbs. 10 X 6. 20" high when leveled out. Higher than the trailer I borrowed to haul the junk midget. All the lights work but there appears to be no turn signals or brake lights, will investigate that farther when I can. Things I must do, get some decent used 14" tires and put them on. Come up with some ramps. See if I got enough ratchet tie downs to secure the midget to my satifaction. Weld some rails back that were torched off when a tire rack was removed. Paint it for the sake of dignity. repack wheel bearings and find a cap for the one that is missing. Hammer out the bent up fender and weld it back.

Sounds like a project to me.

Formula Fords weigh under 1100 lbs wet including driver.

Good luck

Steve

I came home and did some grinding and rewelding of some trouble spots on the trailer and cut off a fender and hammered it back out and then welded it back on. I then gave it a good wash and I bought some orange spray paint to give the trailer another coat of paint just because it needs something. Took some pics just a few minutes ago.

nice - I'd love a trailer

Giving it a good assessment today. It is well made and the frame is of tough channel and has a 3500 lb axle. It would haul a lot more than my 1500lb midget without breaking down. Looks like a real go getter. So when the wifes, festiva breaks down I can go get her

That's one sweet ride Kim!
WTG!!!

Nice little trailer there. I really want to find one like that myself.

Looks good to me.

Looks nice!!! You must have some left-over paint from when you did the car! Paint it with that!!!!

Oh yes, paint it to match the car.

Ok then, black rust-o-lum will work just fine.

Too late. You see it was already orange. I decided to just give it a coat of oarnge. Well, orange is out of fashion, 2 lowes and 2 home depots, no brush orange rustoleum. Finally I hit an ace and no rustoleum but the ace stops rust orange, I bought a quart and started. It is the scream in your face "look out" orange, but I put one coat on it and will do another tomorrow. The orange that was on it was much darker and reder.

Ahhhh, I need to see that. Well guess I will at that.

Now is there going to be any signs like "Get a load of this"

Just put on another coat of orange today. It still needs another. I will finis out the quart as far as it goes and that is it. I removed one wheel and took out the bearings and cleaned them all in gas and repacked them and reinstalled. Might do the other side tomorrow. Got the signal lamps working. Now I need a couple of used 14s. One for a replacement and one for an extra spare. Also need ramps of some sort, still working on that.

That might help to keep the idiots out there from running over your trailer.
