Bob, do you have your cabin lined with Dynamat (or similar)?
I did a day long drive with a bunch of Porsche mates the other day in the freshly re-trimmed BJ8. My side exhaust is pretty minimal! With the window DOWN, its pretty raucous, but with the window closed, and the hood up, its pretty comfortable once up to pace (accelerating changes things a bit..). Actually it was worst when the revs were low - the growling deep pitched note was the one that shook your teeth!
I put the relative comfort down to the full Dynamat lining.
