A little story and a big thank you.
I grew up with my dad's Healey. He had an after market shift knob. I wanted my Healey to have the same knob he did.
Back then the knobs looked liked light bulbs. The ones they sell now from the usual vendors are more tear-dropped shape.
Your shift knobs plays an important part of the driving experience. I want to relive my dad's pleasure, shifting with that style knob in hand.
My good friend Randy Harris here on the forum offered to recondition the old one that was on my car from the previous owner. Well it seems my period knob must have been shifted by more people and miles than it was expected to last, and Randy was not able to save it.
So the search continued. Someday I will find one.
It's been seven months.
Well today one of my childhood memories came true.
Randy presented me with a beautiful burl-wood light bulb shaped shift knob. With a Healey cloisonné medallion inserted!
It's the little things in life that sometimes make us smile and be thankful for having such good friends.
