Got my master cylinder back

Got my re-sleeved master cylinder back from Gerard today. It looks really nice! I had it cad plaited as well, so hopefully it should hold up well. Won't know how well it works for a while, since I'll have to rebuild the brakes to add in the discs. I've got plenty to keep me busy over the summer!

That looks great man! If you don't mind me asking, what was the total cost?
 
Total cost was $304, and included the following:

* 2 3/4" pistons
* rebore, rebuild, and reassemble the MC
* clean and cad plaiting
* shorten push rods
* new push rod springs
* new seals and cap
* shipping

Basically, I sent him my entire old setup, and he sent it back all ready to drop back into the car. You could save a bit and just get the pistons, or do the reassembly yourself, but it was worth it to me to have him to the entire thing.
 
Drew, post a link please, I've got 3 cyls (+ repair kits) for the B sitting in my trunk that need that kind of attention.

I don't know that he's doing more than the Sprite masters, though he may be able to help with others. He's not doing the work himself, he just masterminded the design of the replacement pistons, since the 3/4" pistons for the later master cylinders are NLA.

He may be able to get you in contact with the fellow who did his machine work, though, if you want work done on your MGB setup.

Barry - nothing else to add to the sig at this point. All other recent vehicular sidetracks proved dead ends, which is for the best (though the bike should be sold on Saturday if all goes well). /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
 
I've got to rebuild the rest of the brake system first, and get the discs ready to go on. Once the engine block is dismantled and away, I'll be ready to tackle the brakes. The new MC is still in its shipping box, awaiting its turn. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
