Got Her Done!!!

Well, I FINALLY got around to putting in the $10 dollar 12 inch Hayden electric fan in the MGB today. I found it in a shop that has some "pre-owned" stuff. I think he had it marked for $15 and said he would take $10. Could not afford NOT to try it. Snug fit, but it fits. I debated about the kit you can buy or just fabricating brackets. I opted to do the latter.

When I bought the MGB, it only had ONE fan. Learned quickly to KEEP MOVING, especially in the Oklahoma summer.

Drove around and came back home. Left her running and watched the temp move towards red. Was getting antsy and as I popped the hood the fan kicked in. Watching that temp gauge go towards the blue sure looked great.

Just HAD to share my elation with somebody. Besides, we need to keep our post numbers ahead of that Triumph riff raff. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Well, congratulations! I went through OK City a couple of summers ago on my way to Huntsville and going through the city on I-40, the temp hit 121 degrees (I kid you not!).

Where in NE OK are you located? My son recently graduated from UPT at Vance in Enid.

Triumph Riff Raff...
Congrats on the lower temps. It sounds like you'll be able to enjoy the summer now!
BTW, some auto parts stores sell adjustable thermostats for the Kenlowe fans. If you run your second fan with one of these and set it to a slightly lower trip point you might never even see the needle move past mid-scale.

Basil, I am about 40 or so miles North of I-40 on Hwy 69. About 45 miles ESE of Tulsa. Congrats to your son. We are very glad Vance was not on the base cut list.

Ah Doug, thought I might get a raised eyebrow with the Triumph comment. I may just look into the adjustable thermostat. Mine ran between midpoint and the red. Would be a piece of mind to have it was a tad lower, IMHO.

Thanks guys!!!

78MGB, just a thought, hope you are running half water and half anti-freeze, makes a big difference instead of all
anti-freeze.

Basil, more this post over to the TR count. Wayne

If you're worried about the anti-freeze mix, there is a better summer option. Try RedLine Water Wetter. You mix this product with water and just a pinch of anti-freeze and it lowers your engine temperature several degrees. I've tried it and it does what it says it does. However, since you don't put much anti-freeze in, it's not suitable for winter use.
