'Gordinni Hemi' Engines???

So I am looking at another Europa thats advertised for sale; It has its original engine in it, plus it comes with 3(as described by the owner) 'Gordinni Hemi' engines. So my question is; what are these?? and are they worth my shipping them up here?

Well, if they are genuine "Gordini" units then that's a good find. Gordini did the performace tuning for Renault, eventually selling his business to them.....and of course there is a Renault unit in Europas, at least the early ones, IIRC. Doc may be able to clarify that a little.

A Google search on "Gordini engines" brought up this, which I thought was interesting. https://members.cox.net/lotuseuropa/gordini.html

IF they are genuine Gordinis, then it seems to be very much worth your while to get hold of them. Can anyone check them (and the car of course) out for you?

well, that is good news. I've spoke with the owner a few times, and he's sent me tons of pics...So I got a pretty good idea of what the cars like condition wise.(similar to mine, but with an original engine in it). This one also comes with 2 transmissions and a load of other europa parts. Mine has a mazda rotary and bad syncro's(plus an original renault engine - out of the car)....so this might be a good opportunity to swap in one of the gordini's and a good tranny.

Those Gordinis are great engines. Lots of competition success. Rather like Abarth was to Fiat or Alpina to BMW. I'd love to see one in a Europa, that thing would scoot considering its light weight.

The early chassis/body with the Gordini engines are a RIOT!! About the only French mill'd car I'd even consider. The S1 & S2 Europa were Renault engined, the only Gordini versions I ever saw were racing cars. A street one would be very slick now.

I am almost ashamed to admit it these days, but I actually owned a R8 Gordini. It was once a race car, complete with track tech stickers, roll cage, extra fuel tank, etc. It had been hit in one rear quarter and the tail panel when I got it, and I could not find the sheetmetal to fix it ( Mid 70s). I traded it for a BSA 650. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Now, with the internet and vintage racing, it is probably worth a bit more. I hope it survives and is having some extended track life. I had the head off once. I remember it as having some very odd combustion chamber features( not to mention twin webers...)

Since I am close to agreeing on a price with the owner....What do you guys think a complete gordini engine would run??With webers and everything.

Just a guess.....6000rpm and 160-170 mph???!! LOL
