Good source for BJ-8 windsheild post gasket?

Looking though the Anderson-Moment book last night I read that the door rope that is attached to the windsheild post and then runs down along the lip of the front fender is a different color than the door rope that runs around the door frame. It is supposed to be attached with pop rivets and there is supposed to be a "bracket" of some sort. I don't see this stuff listed in the Moss catalouge. Could anyone give me a lead on a good source for these parts?

Martin-MacGreggor (sp?). They usually have an ad in the back of Healey Marque magazine.

They have the best "windlace", so it would stand to reason that they'll also have what you're looking for.

Hey Bill,
Look at the front of the Moss catalog where they have the color pictures of
the interior kits, etc. They have a picture of "Bristleflex" listing the
correct colors for a BJ8 and separate part numbers for the windshield portion
versus the door portion. I've purchased it before and been happy with it.
Randy's suggestion is great too as seen their ad many times in the AHC USA
mag.
Good luck,
Mike

btw - have a brand new set of the aluminum shut face finisher that attaches to
the top of the inner and outer sills if you're interested. don't have the
vertical pieces.

Yes Bill, the color is different. Originally the color of the convertible top seals was a light grey, thus the seals you need also should be a light grey. As Martin will tell you visually you should have the same color line running along the side of the top interior around the window glass, and then down the windshield then fanning out to the door seals. Very colorful character that Martin, love to talk to him.

Thanks for the info, and thanks for the offer. I have a set, but I do not really like the quality or the cut. There is someone on e-bay that regularly offers them. I'm not sure his are any better. Trying to get the verticle piece to conform to the curves of the verticle pillar is no easy trick. I wish they were preformed. I see a lot of them installed with some dimples and kinks in them. I'd like to avoid that.

MacGregor's site lists the window post seals as "black." So does Moss. I'll call Mr. MacGregor on Monday and then report back here.

had a great conversation with Martin today and ordered the winsheild post seals as well as a set of seals for the top. He also has the thin vinyl used to cover the wooden pieces of the top. Here is the link to his site if others need it:

https://www.macgregorukcarparts.com/

I'll report back on what he sends me.

When Roger Moment helped me restore my windshield on my BJ7 he directed me to Restoration Specialists & Supply, Inc. for the door seal (I think that's the window lacing your talking about...if not sorry) ph 814-467-9842 The website listed on their cat. is www.restorationspecialists.com but when I went there it didn't seem right to me. Anyway, the phone number should get you there and you can have them send you a cat.

I think you are looking for part 1120A-Gry on page 100 in their cat.

Cheers,
Steve

I got my windshield post "seal" from British Car Specialists and it is great. I attached it with pop rivits as origional and I would not do this again as the seal has a metal internal to grip the post and it is difficult to drill and align. BCS says that most people push the seal onto the post and is stays in place just fine. Have a good day!

John, Martin tells me he sells to many other suppliers, so it may be the same stuff. Your description of the installation matches Martin's.
