Having been personally welcomed to the Forum by Basil, it seems the least I can do is introduce myself and "jump in and have fun", as he indicated I should.
I'm in the Los Angeles area, and I have a British Racing Green 1990 XJ-S convertible, which has been in the family about a year now, and has no problems to speak of. I did the radiator pull, clean and rod shortly after acquisition, reinstalled all the missing foam and added 2 Tefba filters. Runs like a champ.
Just before last Christmas, I bought a 1985 XJ-S Coupe, to be a project car. It had failed the Smog test 2 years ago and has been virtually ignored since then. It's in good condition, grey with mulberry interior. Being a California car, it has no rust, and everything works, even the cruise....!
I'm going through the motor at the moment, removing lots of grease and gunk, fixing all the leaks, checking all the seals, valves and sensors, hoses belts and such. I'm also building a new injector harness. Once that is done, it is going to have a new interior, and a paint job...for starters.
When I figure out how, I'll post some pictures and stuff...
From this, I suppose it could be deduced that I have a little enthusiasm and interest for the XJ-S. I believe they will become as collectable as the rest of the Jaguar marque in time, maybe as popular as the wonderful E-Type, so I'm doing my bit to preserve a piece of history, having an inordinate amount of fun at the same time, and hopefully meeting like-minded fools at the same time.
