Good Deal on New Vehicles?

No GM or Chrysler cars for me - I'm looking at a Ford Edge for the lovely bride.

Yeah I like them too and they'll tow 5000#.

Also like the Taurus "X" which is basically a "stretched" Edge.

But no real deals on either of them. $1000 off MSRP and that's about it.
Does it come with a straight shift option?

By the way, since you guys were talking about torque before, the Dodge Sprinter 3.0 engine makes 280 ft. lbs of torque at 1200 RPM.

They only have about 150 HP (my van has 200), so they're probably slow off the line but that doesn't bother me one bit.
I'm a small-bore racer so I already know about driving a "momentum car".

The latest reviews list 25 mpg as "easy" with Sprinters.
And the new ones are being assembled in South Carolina.
Maybe in a couple of years....

That's a turbo diesel for you. Low horsepower but high torque numbers just off idle. That can actually make them pretty quick off the line. Torque moves you off the line not horsepower. The weight and gearing could alter it acceleration with a standard curb weight of 4,937lbs.
