OK, tomorow is the day I attatch the rocker panel to the GT. I have test fitted it many times and It looks great. Questions are:

What size holes do I drill for plug welding it?
How far apart do I drill the holes?
Do I set the Mig to high temp and fast feed, or low temp and slow speed?

I will practice first of course, with what ever speed/temp is the suggestion here.

Gives a good description of the process and photos showing how its done.

High temp and fast speed usually, 7.5 mm ~ 1/4 in holes spaced 1 - 1 1/2 inches apart. Practice as you say....

I am going throught the same thing and have recently purchased a MIG. I started test on the rocker that I cut off and melted a ton of holes through the metal. I aslo did some test plug welds which did not fair well either. I was NOT using gas. I bought a tank and had is filled with straight C02. What a world of difference. On a running bead, the trick is to get the puddle started and then move at a slightly faster pace. Plug welds are similar in that you need to get a good cherry red puddle and then stop. Do some test on scrap & look at the back to make sure you have good penetration.
 
I remember practicing (actually just trying it out the first time) with my Licoln 220v stick welder, on an old folding metal chair. When I was done, it was in 4 pieces - lol. I learned later after buying a welding book,l that my welder was definately not cut out (pun intended) for thin tubing and sheetmetal.
