Going to look at a Bugeye

I've heard about a Bugeye for sale localy,& want to go look at it tommorrow. They're asking $1500 for it.It needs
a restoration,engine seized,rust-free floor pan.
Does this sound like a fair price? What would you expect
for $1500?What should I look/look out for?
Is anyone else interested in this car?

- Doug

Real hard to tell without pics or a first hand report.

As you know, rust free is the key word there. Otherwise it's just a parts car with no good motor.

Look *hard* at the sills and the rear 1/4 elliptic mounts (under the seats). A good bonnet is worth about $500, so $1500 is not real bad if it is truly solid.
If it's a rust bucket, you might be better off looking at a newer (and usually, much cheaper) square-body car.

Unless it is fairly solid (The sound floors is good!) and complete that sounds a bit high to me! Especially with a siezed engine!

Doug:
If the car isn't a total rust bucket or has severe collision damage, it is easily worth $1500.00 (try buying a decent bonnet these days for comparison). You may not be able to complete a concours restoration but if it is "all there" and no serious issues, jump on it!
Let us know what you do.

I agree with you. They are harder and harder to come by and have gotten to the point where it is worth while trying to save most any of them around. Regardless, post pics of what you went to see.

The thread says "Going to look at a Bugeye", and we all know that actually means "Going to buy a Bugeye". Don't forget to post some pics when you get it home!

Actually,I passed on it,but I did take pictures.
If anyone's interested,I'll have pictures. It seems to be
fairly complete,top bows,side cutains,some NOS Lucas lenses
& trims.

Booo Hissss! But yeah, let see some pix!

I can't post pictures here (too big).
Is there someone who I could send them to,
& have them post the pictures?

- Doug

Before I let this post die - if anyone's interested,
let me know & I'll email pictures.
