Going nuts

Anyone know offhand the size nut I need for the tie rod ends? The old ones I took off either can't be found or they don't fit anymore. I'm thinking maybe I slightly distorted the ends when I tried to remove them from the steering arm of the suspension. I know this is a remedial question, as most of mine are, but I'd appreciate any help before I head to OSH. I can't seem to find the answer in the bentley manual. Thanks mucho.

If they are the same as a TR3 tie rod end, I'd say offhand that they are 3/8 fine.

1/2 X20 I believe. Be sure to use a nylock, grade 8 steel seems to be the preference here but don't know where you get it.

Sway bar on the 6 is a 3/8 fine.

The ball joint to tie rod lock nut is 1/2 unf, the ball joint to steering lever is 7/16 unf.

I found these in the Bentley manual under torque settings pg 55.

John,

A great reference by PeterK

I am slowly replacing all the nuts and bolts
in the car.

grade #8 if the part moves, shakes or vibrates-along
with Loctite blue and all metal locknuts.

grade #5 only for sheet metal and body parts-nylocks with Loctite blue.

hope this helps you out
