Do any of you fellas out there, know how to check this?
is there power there i can check with a meter or a lite?
can i open the tops ups and clean them out? if you know what i mean.

You can take the injector out of the housing, but do not try to take the injector itself apart. To test properly, you would use an oscilliscope at the injector lead to see what the pattern is. a DVOM is just not fast enough, and do not use an analog meter. Auto parts stores sell something called a 'noid light' that will plug into the harness and blink in simulation of the pulses, but you'd only know that a signal is there, not whether it is a long enough pulse to do any good.
If the car is from the early to mid 80s, I likely have some training literature on it and could send you a scanned copy of the appropriate pages.

Also, if it's cold, it should squirt with the first key on in many cars...and, of course, it will squirt while cranking over. As Paul says, a noid light may give you an imprecise idea....better than nothing. They are about $10, so not a giant investment. And he is correct....no analog meters (I've seen people do it, but it's sort of sketchy and could fry the computer).
Don't forget to check fuel pressure to the TBI.
 
well i guess what i really need to know is < is it possible to clean out the fuel feed side of the injectors? i suspect there may be some doodoo in there. BTW its a 3xx somthing chevy P/U. with the dual throttle body injectors.

If a GMC has throttle body problems, what would be some of the symptons? Dieing immediately after started? Hard to get fuel to keep it running?
 
Tony i am more trying to verify that the squirters are squirtin. i have fuel to the T/B, and spark, but she no go vroom vroom at all, not even a kick......

Had a mid '80's K-car... SWMBO's former 'daily.' TBI went "Tango Uniform" early in my ten year torture/ordeal of maintaining it. Could "see" the trigger pulse with a light, but no squirtee so I replaced it with NAPA's version. THAT part worked well 'till the day I sent it down the road on a flatbed as a "donation" to the VFW. My 'freedom' from the "Dam Dodge" has now been a year and three months. Herself called it the Dodge "INSIPID." Wanted a "BolderTint" to say "Dodge THIS!"
