Glovebox Door Hinge

can someone tell me what type of hinges were original on the S2 glovebox door? I've seen pics online of piano hinges and knife hinges. Are these (or similar) available from cabinet maker specialty shops?

Pro'lly are, Darren. I'll check the parts book and measure the Elan today and see... If I can find the car under this pile of 'stuff' inna garage! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Kinda sure there was no difference between the S-3 and late S-2's as far as that hinge is concerned. May even have been what the TR-6's used, BTW.

I've attached a few photos of the hinges I was looking for just to close the loop for others that may someday do a search on the topic. These may be S3/4, but since I made a new dash, I get to choose the type!

Could someone post a closeup picture of the dash in the hinge area. The picture shows the cut out of the glovebox door required to accept the hinge, but I don't know if or how much needs to be shaved out of the dash to accept the hinge on the other side.

Also, the first picture is from an Ebay auction where the hinge sold for 30 pounds plus. I got some brass ones from Lee Valley and bent them up in my vice-brake (also from Lee Valley, an invaluable tool for bending small brackets)

My early "Elan Coupe" (sort of an S2.75 - the Coupe without the extractor vents) had piano hinges, fwiw.
